The Truth Revealed

“Hey, Dominique. How was your weekend,” Jasmine asked as she sat down at the table.

“Boring as always. What about you and Alex? You two always sniff out trouble.”

“We killed Bridget and Markl. Nothing much though,” Alex said.

“Oh yeah? You sound like you do things like that everyday,” Bryant said getting his two bits in.

“Well something tells me we’re not quiet done yet. We still have a long way to go,” Jasmine said as the bell rang.

They all went to their classes; Bryant, Jasmine, and Alex went to Physical Ed while Dominique went upstairs and met up with Buck and Jason. They talked for a while until they had gotten yelled at for not being quiet during their test. In Physical Ed they played floor hockey and Alex and Jasmine both ended up being goalies for opposite teams. Bryant was on Jasmines team and he was a defender. They met up again at noon when they were shooting hoops.

“Wasn’t today fun,” Alex said sarcastically.

“Yeah it was loads,” Jasmine replied back.

“Sounds like you guys had fun. And here Dominique and I only got yelled at for talking. Why do we get all the harsh teachers,” Jason said coming up behind them.

“Why am I not surprised you got yelled at for talking Jason,” Alex said.

“Look who’s talking, Alex. You talk more than me.”

“Okay this is pointless,” Jasmine said to Dominique, “they argue about who talks the most.”

“Yeah it’s actually pretty entertaining.”

After Alex and Jason were done they starting talking about Bridget, Markl, and Max.

“So you two are murders,” Buck asked sitting down on the bleachers next to Jason.

“We didn’t murder them,” Alex piped up.

“You just killed them that’s all,” Bryant said joining in.

“We didn’t kill them we re-killed them,” Jasmine shot back.

“Whatever let’s just play some B-ball.”

“Hey Alex, you up for volleyball today?’

            “Sure, why not Jas.”

The girls only hit the guys three times each before the bell rang for homeroom. They sat and talked about Alex and Jasmine’s weekend and when they asked Dominique and Bryant they of course said they did absolutely nothing.

“Are you staying after school,” Jason asked Alex.

“Pretty sure I am why?”
“Just wondering. When’s your next softball game?”

“Um…Thursday right Jasmine?”

            “Yeah I think so.”

“So three more days huh. Your last game right,” Bryant asked.

“Yeah,” Jasmine and Alex replied together.

“What time to you start,” Dominique asked.

“Five-thirty, six somewhere in there,” Jasmine replied.

“Stay after school that day and we can go out to the cage to have supper.”

“Okay Dominique I suppose we could. If Bryant and Alex are you to it of course.”

“You know it,” Alex responded instantly.

“Count me in,” Bryant said right after.

They wandered slowly to their next class and right away Jasmine went to a computer. She worked on their newspaper article while Alex tried to figure out what they did do on an average day. After school they stayed around to help with taking down prom settings from the weekend before. They were hauling chairs when they say someone on the stage.

            “Who’s there,” Alex asked cautiously.

“A really good friend.”

            “Jason, is that you?”

“Your guess is right. Very good Alex.”

“What are you doing here,” Jasmine said calmly.

“Question is, what are you still doing alive. So far two deaths have occurred because you two didn’t die like you were supposed to.”

“You really are too smart for your own good Jasmine,” came a voice from behind them.

“Buck! You’re a ghost too,” Alex said surprised.

“Yup. How’d you guess?”

“Knock off the act. Tell us who all is in your little gang and we’ll be glad to be on our way,” Jasmine said not backing down.

“You’ll be on your way soon enough. On your way to the underworld and joining us on our revenge,” Buck said.

            “Your revenge, for what?”

“Not our revenge exactly but close enough. Besides what would you care what it’s about? It has nothing to do with you really,” Jason replied.

“Then why kill innocent people,” Alex said starting to yell.

“Because its fun and we need people to build our army do we not? The General and Lieutenant will be very pleased if I bring you back.”

“Exactly who are they,” Jasmine asked curiously.

“Only the best killers every,” Buck said like he just opened a present on Christmas.

“Their the ones in charge and decide who’s turn it is for trial,” Jason continued.

“Trial? I’m assuming you test a person every thirteen years and if they fail, they die.”

“That’s correct Jasmine. He knew you would be on trial once you turned old enough. For some reason I don’t understand he has had a special interest in you ever since he laid eyes on you. You exceeded all the tests when you were a kid.”

“I was high in academic but I was behind a grade. I didn’t come into this class until the sixth grade so why would I be on his list.”

“Alex was chosen at first until you came along and the Lieutenant had to have you in his plan so he made sure you were in this class,” Buck said.

Jasmine was carefully walking along the stage trying to remember where the trap door was just in case she needed it. She remembered how Jason had to die but couldn’t remember Buck. She hoped Alex remembered because if not they were in deep trouble, pulling off Jason’s was going to be hard enough.

“So how would you like to die Jasmine,” Jason asked.

“Quick and painlessly. But I should ask you that. You’re the one going to die not me,” she replied.

Buck slowly backed out and towards the gym. Alex noticed and followed close behind him until she was in the middle of the gym.

            “Hey Alex.”

“Hi Buck.”

“I’m really sorry I’m the one that has to finish you off. Bridget was supposed to so I didn’t have to. But you defeated the lower class so you move up I guess.”

“You mean Bridget, Markl, and Max was supposed to be easy?”

“You think so huh?”

“Let’s just do this. I really don’t want to kill you but I will if I must. Tell you the truth though you were a really good friend,” Jasmine said tapping the floor.

“Likewise Jasmine. But all good things must come to an end.”

“Just as well bad things.”

“You’re saying I’m bad? Here I though we were friends.”

“Were, Jason.”

Jason started to run towards Jasmine as she was backing away. She stumbled backwards falling and as she quickly got up Jason fell down though the floor and next thing Jasmine knew he was gone.

“What the…how did this happen,” she asked herself.

A minute or so later she realized that when she stumbled she unlatched the trap door and when she fell the switchblade she got from fighting Markl fell blade out and when he ran towards her he went straight down cutting his throat on his way down.

“So you and Jason are round two,” Alex asked moving closer to Buck.

            “Basically.”

“I don’t want to fight you Buck. I really don’t. But I will and I won’t back down.”

“I don’t want to fight you either Alex but we have orders from our superiors and they must be followed.”

“How dare you forget about me Buck? I’ve been waiting for how long now. You ditched me to hang with this other girl,” a voice said coming from the doors.

            “Sorry Hailey.”

“You’re going with her,” Alex exclaimed.

“Of course not. I’m top notch just like your friends Buck and Jason,” Hailey said smugly.

“I told you I will be there soon,” Buck replied.

“Why can’t I have any fun?”

“I was assigned here, now leave,” Buck said getting impatient.

“Fine, I’ll go,” she replied walking away.

Just as Hailey left Jasmine walking in. She ran over to Alex and Hailey came back asking if she now could stay.

“Whatever just stay out of my way,” Buck announced.

“Jasmine lets do this quick okay,” Alex said.

“Alright, I don’t know how Buck has to die but I believe I know how Hailey must,” Jasmine replied.

            “I remember Bucks’.”

“I remember Bucks’ too,” Buck said sarcastically.

Alex told Jasmine her plan and took off running towards the bleachers.

“I’ll take Jasmine,” Hailey said happily.

Buck took off after Alex as she climbed the bleachers. He caught up to her just as she reached the top trying to reach the basketball hoop.

“You can’t runaway,” Buck said looking up at Alex sitting on the backboard.

“I don’t have to,” Alex said taking the blade Jasmine slipped her minutes before.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“Finishing you off unfortunately,” Alex replied cutting a wire on the hoop causing it to collapse and fall unto Buck and Alex went with it.

            “Alex!”

“Your fighting me remember,” Hailey said

“Screw you,” Jasmine said running over to Alex.

“Alex is you okay? Break anything or are you still up.”

“Still up and good. Don’t feel like I broke anything though.”

“Nobody ignores me like that!”

“Be quiet I’m coming Hailey,” Jasmine said walking over.

“I’m going to kill you Jasmine. You and your little friend. Then I’ll be moved up into the General and Lieutenant’s first choice.”

“You have no heart do you? Even Jason and Buck regretted having to try and kill us, but you, you find this amusing do you not” Jasmine asked.

Hailey went for a straight attack and Jasmine dodged easily. She quickly glanced around looking for a rope of some kind but had no luck. An idea popped into Alex’s head as she dodged Hailey. It reminded her of playing steal the pin earlier in Physical Ed. For the game you need balls and they were kept in a bag with a drawstring.

            “Jasmine, I’ll be right back.”
“Take your time I’m only exhausted,” she responded.

Alex hacked into the storage room where all the Phy Ed supplies were kept. She rummaged around until she found the balls. She hurried to cut the string off with the blade and ran back out to Jasmine.

“Quick Alex, I don’t know how much longer I can go,” Jasmine said gradually slowing down just barely dodging blows.

Alex threw the rope over a basketball hoop and tied a knot so it stayed. She remembered a knot her brother taught her so she quickly tied a knot on the end hanging down and signaled Jasmine. She ran over and ducked as Hailey ran right into the rope throwing her back as Alex raised the hoop from the supply closet. Jasmine looked away as Hailey’s feet lifted off the ground then vanished.

            “Finally it’s over,” Alex said.

“Not yet. The general and the lieutenant are still left.”

“Look at the time, five-thirty already.”

“I’m exhausted, let’s get a drink,” Jasmine said walking out of the gym.

As she took a drink they heard a crash upstairs and ran to check it out.

“I forgot my Science book,” Alex said running up the stairs taking two at a time.

They walked into their Science classroom and surprisingly it was unlocked. They walked over to their shelf and Alex grabbed her book while Jasmine looked around for their notebooks. They heard a loud thud as two figures came out from behind the door
